How to Prepare (Matcha Method)
- Sift matcha - Helps prevent clumping
- Add powder to bowl - Typically 1 - 2 grams
- Add hot water - Use 160 - 170°F (70 - 75°C) water
- Whisk quickly - Use a bamboo whisk until smooth and lightly foamy
- Adjust consistency - Add more water for lighter texture or more matcha for thicker texture
Preparation Styles
- Usucha (Thin Tea) - More water, lighter and balanced
- Koicha (Thick Tea) - Less water, thick and concentrated, requires high quality ceremonial matcha
