Crafted in the historic pottery region of Mie, this elegant Banko-yaki kyusu is made from Shidei clay, a distinctive iron-rich purple clay prized for brewing Japanese green teas. The clay is known for gently softening astringency while enhancing the natural sweetness and depth of the tea.
Its rounded marugata form allows tea leaves to fully unfurl during brewing, encouraging even extraction and a balanced infusion. The surface is finished with a traditional tochiri texture, a finely hammered pattern that adds subtle visual depth while providing a comfortable grip.
The classic side-handle kyusu design offers excellent balance and precise control when pouring, making it ideal for preparing delicate teas such as sencha, gyokuro, and kabusecha. Inside, a built-in ceramic filter naturally strains the leaves while preserving the clarity and purity of the infusion.
